Reflecting on pivotal moments in my life, one stands out: the seemingly trivial purchase of a Transformers: The Movie sticker album and packs from a 7-Eleven in 1987. This impulsive buy marked my search for a defining hobby, initially leading me to collect baseball cards influenced by friends. However, I soon realized that I was more drawn to the aesthetics of sports logos than the games themselves. Over time, I shifted focus back to what truly excited meโTransformers, cartoons, and fantasy. This transition was significant, especially with societal pressures to abandon childhood interests as I approached middle school.
During the pandemic, while working from home, I unintentionally built a vintage collection of these Transformers albums, acquiring several nearly complete sets from random purchases. This led to a moral dilemma: should I cut up some vintage books to complete one collection or leave them intact? Ultimately, I opted to complete my primary album by purchasing remaining stickers on eBay, fulfilling a long-held desire.
Having all stickers in one album is incredibly satisfying, transforming a nostalgic piece from my past into a more complete version I can appreciate now. This experience reaffirms the value of following personal passions despite external pressures, echoing my commitment to hobbies that bring genuine joy. Now, I can relish flipping through this album, a cherished reminder of my childhood interests.
