Epstein Victims Urged Trump to Make Their Files Public, But He Dismissed It as a “Hoax.”

Bipartisan support is emerging in Congress over concerns regarding the ongoing withholding of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. On a recent press conference, a group of lawmakers, including both Democrats and Republicans, called for the passage of the “Epstein Files Transparency Act.” This proposed legislation, introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie, aims to compel the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release unclassified materials tied to Epstein’s investigations, including flight logs and internal communications. The bill specifically states that documents cannot be withheld for reasons of reputational harm or political sensitivity.

During the conference, Epstein survivors shared their harrowing experiences of abuse. Marina Lacerda, one of the survivors, highlighted that the government possesses documents linked to her abuse, which could assist in her healing process. Meanwhile, Massie criticized the limited nature of recent DOJ document releases, asserting that 97% of the materials made available had already been disclosed through previous court cases.

Survivors directly appealed to Republican lawmakers, urging them to support transparency. They emphasized the dire need for accountability and transparency from the government. Although Massie is pursuing a discharge petition to force a vote on the bill, the path remains challenging, particularly as the Trump administration has dismissed the proceedings as politically motivated. The survivors expressed frustration over this dismissal, reinforcing their calls for acknowledgment and support in their quest for justice.
